Iraqi Female Politicians

There was no such thing as an Iraqi female politician at the turn of this century, but everything changed after the fall of Sadaam Hussein in 2003.

There was a story on CBS News tonight about a guy just freed after 30 years in prison with the help of the Innocent Project.  The Ohio Innocence Project is trying to free Dean Gillispie, a man from Fairborn who has served 20 years.

Columbus Homeless to Homes Trip

Council members including Laure Q, Roxanne, and Wendell Y went to Columbus on a bus with about 45 other Cincinnatians to see best practices for ending homelessness. National Church Registries, an organization based in Columbus, is doing fantastic housing.

Pianos around town "Play Me I'm Yours"

Today pianos painted by students in the city summer art program "ArtWorks" are out and about in Cincinnati.  You can find two at Fountain Square and one at Music Hall.

Each piano has a "piano buddy" who is supposed to cover it with a tarp whenever it's about to rain.  Anyone

Cincinnati wins $25 Million for Streetcar

The feds came through today and awarded us $25 Million for our streetcar project.  We got the highest amount awarded, along with a few other cities.  I'm grateful to President Obama for creatiing a pot of money for cities serious about improved public transportation and economic development.

Mobile Food Vending Passes Council!

I'm thrilled to report my first big initiative, a pilot program for mobile food venidng, was passed by Council today.  The only person voting against was Leslie Ghiz, and for a moment there in Council, I think she thought I was on the witness stand.
